Introduction: The Dark Age For a half a century there was fire and chaos, and space was filled with the cries of war. The conflict, though great in scale, was simple in its cause: six species, the furthest no more than 30 light years apart, suddenly became aware of each other's existence as they traveled from their world cradles into the coldness of space. None of them were prepared for their encounter, or the questioning of self it brought. The violent instincts all dominant species possess were roused, and there was war. Space was plunged into barbarism. This was the Dark Age. Five decades passed before the cease-fire. It was at best a tentative agreement, but at least it gave hope. |
